Pefkohri
In the southeast of the peninsula of Kassandra, a small tourist town lies. Pefkohori, which means 'pine village', is the place I had went to visit for my summer vacation with my family. It was really nice; the water. Oh my Goodness. I don't think I had ever went to a beach with a crystal clear water like Pefkohori. It was so clear and beautiful. The small waves that would rise in the morning would lap at the shore in a gentle motion.
We stayed in Greece for about five days. The hotels were really nice and we stayed at Villa Repas. The alley to reach the hotel was cute and it looked like one of those aesthetic pictures that we would see on Instagram or Google. And they were close to the beach as well; almost a minute walk. That's how close we were. But driving through the path to get to our hotel was a bit hectic because it was crowded and frustrating. It was almost confusing too but luckily, we had help and knew were to go.
For the rest of the vacation, it was all pretty much seeing the beach scene. We did went to eat at some of the restaurants and a small fast food place which is called Smile Grill Bar (Gyros was absolutely amazing!). I didn't drink much; I mainly drank coke at a small café though it's more of a bar (and there was this cute guy who worked there so I purposely would go there almost every day when I could). We did ate twice at two of the restaurants; one of them was a Seafood Restaurant and the food was alright though we mostly bought pizza which was amazing! And we mainly cooked at our hotel since there was a small super market close to our hotel.
One thing for sure though is that it was hot. I got sunburnt during the trip so taking a cold shower was a pain in the butt. I only do cold showers when the weather is super hot. So make sure you apply sunscreen and stay under the shade and definitely wear a hat! I got a bad headache at one point. It got really hot during the afternoon and by that time, we would leave our stuff at the beach and went back to our hotel until the heat died down a bit which was usually around 4pm.
Night time came and it was stunning. I feel like that's when the town wakes up the most because it feels like everyone is awake. We would go down the path and reach until the end; we also got to go on the Docks and there was a ship that would take the passengers on a nightly cruise. Unfortunately, I didn't went on it. And there was a small firework display that would burst with different colors into the night sky. There was also like a small carnival with the Ferris Wheel with glowing lights and arcade games.
Half way of our vacation, we got to drive around Greece, mainly around Kassandra to see all the views and scenic routes as well exploring some parts of Pefkohori and then we got to visit Thessaloniki which is the second largest city, being located at the Thermaic Gulf. We took lots of pictures and saw the White Tower of Thessaloniki as well as Alexander the Great Statue.
Regardless, our vacation came to end but one thing what I wish we had done something different and that is to do more exploring of Pefkohori even though my parents are more of a 'beach scene'. They just want to go to the beach and get a tan which is cool but I honestly got bored just by going to the beach every day. I read during the entire vacation. All in all, it was a really nice place but I don't recommend to go in the summer because it's really hot.
Have you been to Greece? What are your thoughts?
